At PlayStation Blog and in a newly released trailer an announcement was made that Stellar Blade would be receiving an update and collaboration DLC with NieR: Automata. Gematsu reports that the NieR: Automata DLC is a paid release and that the update will come for free. Both of these inclusions will be released on November 20, 2024.
The relationship between the two game’s directors Yoko Taro and Kim Hyung Tae made this new DLC collaboration possible. GamesRadar+ shares that Yoko Taro, NieR’s director, had expressed “…it’s much better than NieR: Automata. I have been acquainted with Mr. Kim’s works since Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. Your illustrations are of a very high quality. Magna Carta: Tears of Blood came out before Drakengard, the first game I directed.”
NieR Series character Emil and his goods shop makes an appearance in the world of Stellar Blade. TrueTrophies reports that Emil’s goods shop will feature 11 collaboration-special items that will be made available for purchase. Several of these items feature iconic characters from NieR: Automata including 2B, A2 and 9S.
A photo mode has been added to Stellar Blade as a part of the free update, it will include additional filters and poses for characters. With the update players can expect four additional costumes for Eve and a new Ponytail Length option of “No Ponytail”. New gameplay elements have been implemented, one in the form of an additional accessory has been added called the Symbol of Legacy which alters Eve’s ‘Tachy’ mode and the other in the form of auto-targeting for ballistic insta-kill skills. Lip-sync support has been added for six additional languages as well. The update and DLC are shaping up to be something that fans can look forward to.
