SteelRising Revealed As The Next Game Coming From Developer Spiders

Developer Spiders has been taking its place in the RPG genre with its most recent game and fifth RPG entry Greedfall, now the company has unveiled its newest project. Being the sixth RPG game to come from Spiders; SteelRising is a re-imagining of the famous French Revolution that ended with the dethroning and execution of Marie Antoinette, France’s last queen. The re-imaging comes in the form of robots. The players of SteelRising will take control of the robot Aegis, which is perfect that she is named after a shield because she is the personal bodyguard of Marie Antoinette.

Aegis has been tasked to seek out her creator to put an end of King Louis XVI and the massacres that are being carried out by his robot military. Unlike the Dragon Age inspired, Greedfall, combat in SteelRising will be more action-oriented and there will be more vertical movement along with better map integration to help the game flow between combat and exploration. “It’s a world we’ve tried to make as deep and varied as possible,” Spiders co-founder Jehanne Roussea said.

Combat in SteelRising will be divided into three weapon classes: melee, alchemical rifles, and heavy weapons that are integrated into the body of Aegis. Weapons can be upgraded throughout the game, and replaced by playing the various side quests that will be in SteelRising. It is unknown if that if weapon class will have it owns on perk system that the player can spec into as Spiders as had that system in Greedfall.

The development of SteelRising can be followed at the game’s websiteSteelRising does not yet have a release date but the game will be available for PC and next-gen consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X. Details are currently scant but more will likely come when Spiders has a release window for SteelRising.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
