Over the Thanksgiving weekend holiday, the concurrent player count record on Steam was broken yet again. SteamDB revealed that an all-time peak of 27,384,959 concurrent players were using games on its service. The new record happened yesterday, Sunday, November 28. This is not the only time that the concurrent player count record was broken this year in 2021.
Earlier this year, Steam hit a record of 26,401,403. At the time, this beat out what was the record before with 25.4 million concurrent players in January. The top 10 games being played on Steam right now are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Halo Infinite, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Apex Legends, New World, Team Fortress 2, MIR4, Grand Theft Auto V, and Rust. Several games also saw its concurrent player count record broken on Steam throughout 2021. Team Fortress 2 hit peak of 151, 253 concurrent players in June. What makes this notable is that the game is 14 years old. It came out in 2007. The next month, Final Fantasy XIV broke its concurrent player record with 47,542 players playing the game at once. The previous record was 41,200 that happened in 2020.
