Steam Celebrates Richard & Alice’s Arrival With 50% Off

Indie collective Owl Cave and indie publisher Mastertronic are excited to announce that the point-and-click indie adventure game, Richard & Alice is available today on PC via Steam for 50% off for one week. Follow a powerful and mysterious tale of survival that involves family, desperation, and the weather from Owl Cave co-founders Lewis Denby and Ashton Raze (Starbound).

In Richard & Alice, the player takes on the role between Richard and Alice, you are prisoners in a future prison where it all takes place in a world where years of heavy snow has caused disorder around the world. ‘Elsewhere, they say, parts of the world have been rendered an inhospitable desert, the earth parched and cracked.’ Both inmates have a leather sofa and a computer. Players are invited to question and explore the circumstances of their constraint, discover the secrets hidden within, and be engaged in this powerful story. Questions will come up about each others personal journey, between what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong, and do you really know yourself, and what would you do to survive all of this?

‘Richard and Alice have secrets.’

Richard & Alice was on Steam Greenlight, and now that the community has upvoted the game, they are now making their way and making their mark onto Steam.

Lewis Denby from Owl Cave commented: “It’s a great thing to see Richard & Alice on Steam. This is a game we decided to make because we wanted to explore character stories in video games, and the original plan was for a small game we could make quickly and move on from. But now here we are writing quotes for the Steam release PR campaign. It’s quite something!”

Key Features in Richard & Alice includes:

  • Strong focus on storytelling
  • Play alternatively as Richard and Alice, exploring their past and personality
  • Experience an atmospheric world as the mystery unfolds
  • Created by writers whose journalism work has appeared at Eurogamer, Gamespot and The Telegraph, and whose gaming credentials include Starbound, Sepulchre, and Nestlings

Ashton Raze from Owl Cave said, “I am very excited to see Richard & Alice on Steam, because it meant I got to design trading cards and emotes. This was a lifelong dream of mine, and finally that dream became a reality. The game being on Steam in itself is exciting but TRADING CARDS! Seriously. The achievements were right fun too. You’ll not find things like this in a novel.”

Richard & Alice’s Steam release as mentioned above, will also feature exclusive achievements, trading cards, badges and emotes.

You can get the game both on SteamGet Games, GOG and Desura. Find out more information about the game on their official site, plus follow them on Twitter.
