During the 2026 Sony State of Play presentation, developer Sucker Punch Productions announced the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition alongside several major additions coming to the open-world action game. This new edition includes a brand new narrative expansion titled Echoes of Sekigahara and a combat survival mode called Most Wanted. There was also the confirmation that Ghost of Tsushima protagonist Jin Sakai will return as a playable character in the new survival mode.
Most Wanted is a roguelike-inspired combat mode which utilizes bounties. Players can choose between four characters before accepting increasingly difficult targets from a bounty board. Each bounty focuses on a member of the infamous Yōtei Six, requiring players to fight through waves of enemies and minibosses before reaching their target. Completing waves rewards players with perks that can be used to create powerful builds. Each bounty eventually culminates in a boss encounter, with Lord Saito serving as the ultimate challenge. Players will also collect a currency called Mon during their runs, which can be spent outside of battles to unlock new techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and additional playable characters.
The survival mode features several warriors to choose from. Atsu is the default character and fights with dual katanas and uses the Call of the Pack ultimate, which summons two wolves to aid her in battle. Oyuki wields a kusarigama, kunai, and rifle, while her Shadow Shinobi kill streak summons a Nine Tails ally. Nagato can use a spear, pistol, and multiple bows. The fourth playable character Jin Sakai. Jin brings several of his signature abilities into the new mode, including the Dance of Wrath ultimate and the Ghost Stance kill streak.
Alongside Most Wanted, Sucker Punch also revealed Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara, a new narrative expansion that explores two different periods of Atsu’s life. The campaign takes players back to the Battle of Sekigahara, where Atsu fights alongside Nagato. The story then moves to the present day in Ezo, where the two work together once again to confront the Vipers. This new region will introduce additional enemy types, heavy weapons, Mythic Tales, and cosmetic items for players to discover.
The Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition will launch for $69.99 on October 1. The package includes the cooperative Legends mode, Digital Deluxe Edition content, and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Existing owners will also be able to purchase the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99. Players who preorder before September 30 will receive early access to the Sakai Armor. A free update will also arrive for all players on October 1, which adds the Beauty of Yōtei photo exploration mode, additional tracks for Watanabe Mode, new high-contrast accessibility options, and a transmog system.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition launches on PlayStation 5 on October 1.
