Yesterday, PlayStation revealed that the next State of Play would focus on Japanese developers. Today during the State of Play, we got a look at some new titles coming from Sony’s Japanese partners, new looks at already announced games, and more. Below is the rundown of everything that was revealed and showcased during the presentation.
Exoprimal is a new multiplayer co-op game where players team up together and take on hordes of dinosaurs. Players can utilize different Exo suits that each play differently. The game will be released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 sometime next year.
A new trailer was released for Ghostwire: Tokyo which is set to release at the end of the month on March 25. The new trailer sets the stakes for Akito and KK, the main characters of the game. In the trailer, we see a variety of the Vistors, an assortment of supernatural beings based upon Japanese culture, as Akito struggles to save his sister from the mysterious masked terrorist named Hannya.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin got a new trailer revealing some of the enemies that players will have to face. Unlike traditional Final Fantasy games, Stranger of Paradise is being developed by Team Ninja who worked on Nioh and Nioh 2 so the game has more of the FromSoftware design in mind. A new demo is available to try on the PlayStation Store. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin launches next week on March 15.
Forspoken got a new gameplay trailer showing off more of the enemies that Frey will have to fight in the land of Athia as she searches for a way home. The game was recently delayed from May 25 and is now set to release on October 11, 2022.
Gundam Evolution is a 6v6 competitive first-person shooter where players can play as different Gundams, each with their own unique capabilities. The game has already been announced for Japan but it will be released to the West sometime later this year. A network test for US and Japan players is set for the Spring.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection features 13 classic TMNT games. In this collection, players will get access to TMNT II: Back from the Sewers, TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan, TMNT: Tournament Fighters, TMNT III: The Manhattan Project, TMNT III: Radical Rescue, TMNT II: The Arcade Game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TMNT: The Hyper Stone, and TMNT IV: Turtles In Time. The Collection will be available in 2022.
GigaBash is a new top-down fighter where players fight as giant Kaiju monsters similar to Godzilla. The game will be available later this fall.
JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure: All Star Battle R is a new fighting game that brings a roster of 50 characters from the series. Players can experience popular battles from each story arc and see heroes from different universes interact with each other for the first time. It’s set to release in the Fall.
A new trailer was released for Trek to Yomi. The new trailer showed off more of Samurai action and presented more of the story as main character Hiroki journey’s through hell and back.
Returnal: Ascension is a new, free update for the game coming later this month. The update brings in co-op and endless Tower of Sisyphus modes.
The Diofield Chronicle is a new strategy RPG created by a team of veteran strategy developers. The game is set in a unique world that blends fantasy, medieval, and modern-day influences. The game is set to release in 2022.
Valkyrie Elysium is the next installment of the beloved Square Enix series. Elysium combines an evocative world inspired by Norse mythology, thrillingly fast-paced combat and stunning audio-visual presentation. In Valkyrie Elysium, players will play as a valkyrie who is entrusted with the fate of the world by the All-Father – the higest among gods and the ruler of all creation. The valkyrie will have to battle powerful foes to uncover the secrets behind the impending ruin.
