State of Play January 2024: New Stellar Blade Trailer Shows Off New Gameplay and Story

A new trailer for Shift Up’s PlayStation 5 exclusive Stellar Blade was shown off at the January 2024 State of Play, and provides a look at new story and gameplay details.

The 6-minute long trailer shows off the game’s combat and some of its systems, including side quests, skill trees, and equipment upgrades. It also introduces the game’s world and characters.

After the Earth was made uninhabitable by the Naytibas, a mysterious species of unknown origin, a squad of humans is sent to take it back and kill the Elder Naytiba. Players take control of Eve, one of few survivors of the 7th Airborne Squad.

The trailer introduces two side characters who help Eve on her mission. Adam was born on Earth after the Naytibas took over, and is looking for an energy source to support the last remaining human city on Earth, Xion. Lily is a member of another Airborne Squad, and upgrades Eve’s abilities throughout the game.

A PlayStation blog post released alongside the trailer provides more details on the world of the game. The game contains semi-open world regions, the Wasteland and the Great Desert, which are connected to the hub of Xion. These regions contain allies, enemies, secrets, and Hyper Cells, which power Xion. They are also home to many in-game items and cosmetics.
