Upon its launch in early September, Starfield was quick to receive criticism regarding the lack of support for a feature many gamers enjoy: Nvidia’s DLSS technology. However, players won’t have to worry about the lack of official support any longer with the newest update.
DLSS allows gamers to get better framerate performance without the game’s visuals being sacrificed in the process. For a game as vast and detailed as Starfield, it makes sense why players would be eager to have the technology. Players were so frustrated at the lack of support from Bethesda that the modding community took matters into their own hands, creating one that could support DLSS. Fortunately, the tech’s support is in the Beta Update 1.8.83 for Starfield, alleviating some of the stress the modders might face.
On the official update page, Bethesda stated:
“This update introduces Nvidia DLSS support for our PC players. Compatible Nvidia graphic cards can now use DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-aliasing (DLAA), Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, and DLSS Frame generation. Please note: While DLSS Frame Generation is active, VSync needs to be toggled OFF to see the benefit. We are working to automatically adjust this setting in a future update.”
Although this feature is currently in beta, the official release will be not too far into the future with an estimated time of before the end of the month. Besides DLSS support, the update comes with more quality-of-life changes, bug fixes, tweaks to graphics and, as popularly requested, players are now able to eat as soon as they find food. Beforehand, hungry players would have to reach into their inventory to properly eat the food, but now as soon as they see it, it can be eaten! Of course, if you aren’t too starved, you’ll still have the option to save it for later.
