As a part of update 1.5, Stardew Valley will be getting split-screen capabilities. The main brain behind the game itself, Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, confirmed the news along with adding screenshots of what the new feature will look like when it finally arrives. “In Stardew Valley 1.5, there will be split-screen co-op,” Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone stated. The display shows off two separate playing spaces complete with full user interfaces. While the player may co-inhabit the same game, there was a lot of distance between the two as they are in different biomes at different hours of the day in what little the screenshot gave us.
Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone plans to have PC players capable of supporting up to four simultaneous users at a time, but console ports may only support up to two, depending on the hardware’s limitations. It is unknown if the players will manage separate farms or be responsible for the same one, with the different players taking on separate tasks to speed up the efficiency of the gameplay.
The screenshot has given away several new additions to the game as well, including desert farms, a telephone pole, and new fencing along with associated lighting. Banana trees are rumored to be coming to the game in the new update as well along with new dungeons, caves, and resources to gather to maintain the farm. Patch 1.5 for Stardew Valley is yet to have a release date but is it has been a year since 1.4, with the new update to be closing on as soon as possible, as Stardew Valley appears to be having an annual update format in every November. Stardew Valley has gained popularity due to its casual nature and enticing players to play when it’s convenient along with the game have many features from other games, such as roguelike dungeons and Harvest Moon farming mechanics.
