Farmers rejoice! The Stardew Valley 1.5 update is almost here. According to the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the update is finally in its “home stretch of development”. Barone announced the news of the highly-anticipated update back in February. Now nearly a year later, the added content is on its way to a farm near you.
Barone posted the tweet last week, telling his followers that it’s a “very big update, so there is a lot of polishing and bug fixing necessary to make sure it’s ready.” A few weeks ago, the creator teased fans on what was going to be included in the added content. Most notably, split-screen multiplayer will be in the 1.5 update; this feature in high demand ever since the game was released on Nintendo Switch. More rumored content includes desert farms, banana trees, and even a secret door in Willy’s fish shop. In a reply to a Twitter user asking about late-game content, Barone says
“it’s definitely more heavy on the late-game content, but there are some new features/options that you can choose for a new game that might make a fresh run worthwhile.”
The reply giving insight on whether or not players should start over for the big update. However, ConcernedApe explaining that whether players decide to continue their farm or start over a new save, both pathways will be changed by the update.
Stardew Valley’s 1.5 Update is still in the works, but judging by the creator’s tweets, it seems fans will see the fresh content soon. ConcernedApe has been rather quiet on the content that will be added, but a few screenshots may give players some ideas. PC players are able to have up to 4 farmers at a time, while it seems likely console players will have a cap on two. It still isn’t clear whether players will be managing their own farms or helping each other out on the same one. Although Barone hasn’t announced an official release date, we hope it’ll come to the Valley soon.
