Star Wars: Galactic Racer is Coming October 6th, 2026

Due to the size and expansive nature of the Star Wars franchise, many developers are able to create games of various genres within the world. While many action and role-playing titles exist for the series, another element that has been explored is the racing in Star Wars, making use of the high-tech setting to provide vehicles unique to the setting. The latest game in the Star Wars galaxy is Star Wars Galactic Racer, first shown off the Game Awards 2025, which has just received a release date for this year.

To reveal the release date, Star Wars Galactic Racer released a trailer and updated its website to provide greater details about the experience. The trailer flashes quickly between the various repulsorcraft players can choose for the race, including the skim speeder, speeder bike, landspeeder, and podracer, each of which had been shown off previously in the movies. As the trailer goes on, the racetrack also changes to different planets made up of completely different biomes. The remainder of the trailer shows off different skins available for certain platforms and the deluxe edition.

The website also provides story details for players invested in the fate of the Star Wars galaxy. Taking place following the fall of the Empire, players will join the galactic underground in its pursuit of greater speed. The main character, Shade, is a loner out for revenge and glory on the racetrack who will be playable in the game’s main story. In addition, players will be able to participate in PvP battles with an emphasis on reputation.

Part of the appeal of Star Wars is its ability to have moments in the story that every fan can enjoy. Between the races and tense chase sequences, going fast has been part of the franchise’s identity for a long time now, with Star Wars Galactic Racer leaning into that aspect of identity. The game is available for pre-order now and will release on October 6th, 2026, for Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.
