Stanly Parable Creators Release The Temple Of No, A Free Text Based Game

A few years ago, a small indie studio named Crows Crows Crows created a short, witty game that popularized the new “walking simulator” genre called The Stanly Parable.

Since then the studio has continued that trend, perhaps not with the same level of popularity, but at least the same humor, with The Brave Explorer, The Jungle Of Doubt and The Temple of No.

The game is a text-based adventure using Twine, an open source engine used to create interactive, nonlinear stories like The Temple of No. The entire game is about 8 – 10 minutes long and revolves around a explorer in search of a special map that can show the secrets of the universe. Players interact with the game by clicking on various highlighted words that progress the narrative.

If you’ve got the time definitely check this game out.  It’s free and you can play it over on the Crows Crows Crows itch.io page.

This is the second free game Crows Crows Crows have released, the first is called Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist and is also available for download on itch.io.

Crows Crows Crows isn’t exclusively working on small free games though. Talking to Eurogamer, designer William Pugh said that his team has been working on a secret game for almost two years now and it’s about ready to be shown off.

We’ve been toiling away on it for almost two years now, so very soon we’re going to be telling you more about it!

Pugh also said that they are still working on a VR game for the HTC Vive with Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland and that it will be released “to the public SOON (in Valve time).”
