Square Enix Teases E3 Plans; Says No IP’s Ruled Out For The Switch

Developer Square Enix teased some information about some of their upcoming title for the next fiscal year (which is April 1, 2018-March 31 2019). The company came forward and said that the global titles that they plan to release next fiscal year are currently being prepared to be shown off at E3 2018. They also described these titles to be “sharp,” “powerful,” and “well made.” As for this fiscal year, Square Enix has stated that they have kept their lineup the same as previous reports, and that they have “no big games planned” between now and March 2018.

The reveal of this information seems to rule out the possibility of the one of the developer’s most anticipated titles Kingdom Hearts III which was given a 2018 release window in July to receive a full release date early within next year. Although this may be disheartening to long time fans of the series who have been patiently waiting for the games third main entry Square Enix had some more news to share in the briefing.

Regarding the Nintendo Switch, the developer stated that the console’s momentum is strong and that it is in a more unique position than that of the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and that since the core components of the hybrid console are similar to the PS4 and Xbox One that some adjustments would have to be made but the possibility of developing games for all three platforms is there. They also said that they will not rule out any IP’s when “aggressively” making games for the Switch.
