Square Enix has set the Xbox open-beta for Final Fantasy XIV for February 21, 2024. The announcement was made during the 2024 Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival by the game’s director and producer Naoki Yoshida. That said while the open-beta is scheduled for February 21st, Yoshida noted that the date was still subject to change.
“…As far as Xbox goes, we will be beginning the open beta test in February. Our current plan is to begin open beta around the 21st, plans could still change a few days in either direction, but that’s what we’re aiming for,” said Yoshida.
“I really hope that a lot of Xbox players will get started right from beta and join us in 14, and I look forward to meeting a lot of Xbox players as Warriors of Light in-game.”
Other big announcements at the Fan Festival included crossover event with Final Fantasy XVI scheduled for April 2024, and a new trailer for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion.
The Xbox open-beta was initially revealed in July 2023 with a release date sometime in Spring 2024. Alongside 4k support, Xbox Series X|S users will have access to the Final Fantasy XIV Expanded Free Trial, which includes the A Realm Reborn, Heavensward and Stormblood expansions.
Additionally Xbox users that participate in the open-beta will be able to carry over their data when the game officially releases. While there is no official duration for the open-beta, more information will likely be revealed in the coming weeks.
Final Fantasy XIV debuted on PC and the PlayStation 3 in August 2013. Since then, the MMORPG has acquired a player base of over 48.9 million.
Final Fantasy XIV is playable PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and eventually Xbox Series X|S.
