During a panel in Pax East, Square Enix teased that they will be crossing over Final Fantasy XV with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Since Final Fantasy’s release in 2016, it has sustained impressively strong ratings from the gaming community. The creators of Rise of the Tomb Raider have also shared the same accolades. Such a collaboration of games would come across as a strong combination. However, since the announcement, fans of either game have not expressed any excitement.
It’s clear that both games hold a strong standing because of their own unique plot line. Both games have an individual creative aspect about them that is untouchable, so it’s understandable that fans would not want to tarnish the integrity of either game. With responses like “this sounds bad” and “I hope this doesn’t ruin the whole series”, it’s evident that the collaboration is far from welcomed.
the most non sense crossover ever! Its like The Evil Dead doing a crossover with Monty Python

Just, … just no. Stop making crossover. It doesn’t make any sense for tomb raider

It seems that many fans are worried about if the plot lines will even make sense together. Even though this is not the first time Square Enix has done a crossover, as they have also collaborated with Assassin’s Creed, they clearly still have some improvements to make when it comes to crossovers. Some fans suggest to not do them at all.
Since the announcement is brand new, there are currently no updates in regards to the progress of the game and what it will look like. More information about Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be revealed April 27th.
