Squadron 42 Gets Its 8th Anniversary Update Letter in a New Video

Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) is mostly known for developing and continuing the work on the ambitious title Star Citizen. While Star Citizen has been stealing the spotlight, mostly for gaining a reputation as a game that will never happen, CIG has been diverting most of their efforts to a single-player narrative-driven experience that is meant to tag along with Star Citizen. That experience is going by the name Squadron 42. Squadron 42 is a military-based story while most of the details are still being withheld, most of Star Citizen‘s new content has been ports over from the progress made during Squadron 42‘s development, ships that include the Valkyrie drop ship or the upcoming Nova Tank. As expected the new equipment coming from Squadrons 42 has fleshed out the military and warfare career paths.

CIG has released the first episode of a string of videos called the Briefing Room. The Briefing Room will be releasing a new episode with every quarter until the launch of Squadron 42. The first episode came out on the 8th anniversary since the launch of Squadron 42 from the drawing board into the development phase.

The video detailed the progress the team has made, from the dynamic triggers such as NPCs ending their dialogue if the player looks away prematurely, or the seamless transitions between the interior of space stations into the exterior environment. The need for The Briefing Room videos came from players and investors complaining about the lack of progress that the team was making on the game. CIG has pushed out the series of updates to be more transparent and to detail all of the minor tweaks and additions that the team is making.

CIG has promised that they are making solid progress with Squadron 42 even if their perfectionist attitude has made them slower than other studios. CIG is also working on another major update for Star Citizen along with a new batch of toys for the players.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
