In height of the celebration for the three year anniversary for Splatoon 2, Nintendo is not doing just one, but three Splatfests. The first of these events is set to start in August with a Team Chicken vs Team Egg Event. As they announced the Splatfest with a new piece of artwork, with the surprise announcement that the first Splatfest event still starts on August 21st. Starting at 3 PM PT and lasting for 48 hours, Inklings and Octolings will have the chance to go head to head as they settle the old Chicken vs. Egg debate. To follow up with this tweet, Nintendo also told fans to keep on the lookout for two more Splatfests that are set to take place before March 2021.
The next two themes for the upcoming Splatfests are still unknown at this time, however, fans can still take their guesses about the choices for the upcoming events (as the last Splatfest in May was a debate between ketchup and mayonnaise). In the past Chicken vs. Egg. debate by Splatoon, Team Chicken won the title in 20218. This announcement comes shortly after the recent Mini Direct Event that was hosted by Nintendo on the 20th of July.
While no other big news has come from Nintendo recently, other games like Paper Mario and the Origami King and Animal Crossing New Horizons are still seeing a steady rise from their respective fanbases. For those that want to have the same gameplay feeling as Splatoon while they wait for the Splatfest events, the (free) newly released Splatoon inspired game Ninjala has recently broken over three million downloads since its initial release.
