Splash Damage Reveals Cinematic War Game ‘Tempo’

Splash Damage, the British studio behind Wolfenstein: Enemy TerritoryBrink, and the multiplayer component of Batman: Arkahm Origins, has recently unveiled their latest effort, a cinematic war game for mobile platforms called Tempo.

Tempo marks the second partnership between Splash Damage and publisher WarChest, having previously worked together for the popular mobile turn-based game RAD Soldiers.

Little is currently known of Tempo, and what little information on the game there is can be gleaned from the teaser trailer. Apparently, London is under siege by a madman with his own personal army, and is demanding a jaw dropping one trillion pounds, which might be the the highest ransom demand in any work of media ever.

The player assumes command of a team of cool looking special forces operator to fend off the encroaching private army, employing an array of near-future weapons that wouldn’t look out of place in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Gameplay seems to revolve heavily around QTEs, with players having to tap on-screen prompts to allow their soldiers to take down foes. Given the game’s title, it’s safe to say that the pace at which players tap the screen will factor into their success or failure.

Given this rather simplistic gameplay approach, Splash Damage are banking heavily on Tempo‘s highly cinematic look and sophisticated visuals, which do indeed look quite impressive, especially for a mobile title.

More information will be released in the coming weeks, but WarChest and Splash Damage are looking to put the game out sometime in early 2015. Tempo is exclusive to iOS platforms.
