Spawning Not A Zerg Power? Oh My!

Cheap gamers celebrate! With spawning now enabled, StarCraft II is free to play as long as one member of a party has purchased either of Blizzard’s expansion sets Heart of the Swarm or Wings of Liberty.

You’re saying I can mooch this off a friend?! I’m in!

To play, download the StarCraft II Starter Edition. Once players have joined a team with a player who owns Wings of Liberty, they are able to access all of that game’s content. The same applies to Heart of the Swarm. The expanded content is playable by all team members until all higher-expansion level players have left the party.

While the update is still taking place, Blizzard’s announcement stated spawning will be live in all regions by the end of the day.

Starcraft II is a military, science fiction real-time strategy video game developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. A sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft and its expansion set Brood War, the game was released worldwide on July 27, 2010. It is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, an expansion pack Heart of the Swarm, as well as an upcoming expansion pack Legacy of the Void.
