There’s a new South Park game, this time it’s in 3D! South Park: Snow Day was first teased last year at the end of the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase. On Friday, South Park Studios released the reveal trailer for South Park: Snow Day, which is a 3D co-op multiplayer game coming next year for Xbox Series X|S, PC, Switch, and PlayStation 5.
Going off the trailer, the game focuses on Cartman and the rest of the kids in South Park, and ‘New Kid’ which is the name of the player, as they celebrate having the day off from school due to snow. Not much is shown in the trailer besides a few gameplay segments, which hints that the game is going the fantasy route, just like South Park: The Stick of Truth. In the trailer, Cartman is shown to be wearing his ‘Grand Wizard King’ costume, as well as other characters wearing fantasy-inspired outfits, with fantasy powers.
The previous big South Park title was Ubisoft’s South Park: The Fractured but Whole which was released in 2017 as a 2D turn-based game. Prior to this was 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth.
The developers behind South Park: Snow Day are Question Games, which is a small development team based in California and Virginia that published The Magic Circle in 2015 and The Blackout Club in 2018. Question Games were revealed to be the developers of new South Park game last year when job listings were posted for Lead Level Designers. These listings included information about working alongside developers who worked on previous South Park games, as well as Dishonored, Bioshock, BioShock Infinite, and other AAA games.
Currently, there is limited information regarding South Park: Snow Day. The current details that we know about so far are the things presented in the trailer, and the general release window, which is set for sometime in 2024.
