South Park: Snow Day Releases Gameplay Trailer

Announced earlier this year, South Park: Snow Day saw the titular town as a winter wonderland. Today, a gameplay trailer was released showing the chaos the player and up to three friends can experience during the joy that is a snow day.

South Park: Snow Day once again features the player character “New Kid,” who fans first met in the 2014 South Park RPG The Stick of Truth. Customizable as ever, New Kid can team up with up to three real life friends, bots, or random people to journey across the treacherous terrain of the Colorado town. Aided by the iconic Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny, to participate in a South Park snow day means engaging in epic battles with a variety of both melee and ranged weapons that the player can equip and upgrade.

The trailer shows off a few of the locations and battles of the game. From rooftops to ice caverns, the player and their friends can launch arrows laced with an explosive flare at enemies, or charge in with a sword. No matter what your fighting style is, expect plenty of pixelated carnage to be seen. Luckily, even if you go down, other party members can revive you to ensure you don’t miss out on the most epic of snow day wars.

South Park: Snow Day is the first console entry in the franchise since The Fractured but Whole in 2017. Serving as a sequel to The Stick of Truth, it also was a 2D RPG starring the New Kid, although it had a superhero theme rather than fantasy. Fans have been concerned about how the 3D artstyle for Snow Day along with the genre shift will work, especially considering South Park’s last game featuring snowball fights was for the Nintendo 64 and is not particularly known for being well-received. This time, though, it seems that all the fun, charm, chaos and humor of South Park will be intact for a battle the New Kid won’t want to miss.

South Park: Snow Day is set for release in 2024 for Windows, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
