Sony has announced that the next installment of their PlayStation presentation, the State of Play, will take place this Thursday, August 6. This one will primarily be about PlayStation 4 and PS VR games, as well as some updates to some third-party and indie PlayStation 5 titles. Sony has also stated that there will be no major PlayStation 5 announcements, meaning we shouldn’t expect anything like their PlayStation 5 Presentation a couple of months ago.
The State of play will run for approximately 40 minutes and will air at 1:00 pm PST / 4:00 pm EST. The presentation will include some new gameplay footage as well as updates to existing ones. Of course, Sony hasn’t stated which titles will be shown, and considering that none of these will be first-party titles for the PlayStation 5, it’s anyone’s guess as to what we’re in store for this Thursday. Lastly, and in case no one saw the above tweet, Sony wanted to be extra clear that there will be no PlayStation 5 “hardware, business, pre-orders, or release dates” mentioned in any way shape, or form.
We can’t really blame Sony for trying to be as transparent as possible before this new State of Play, as the PlayStation 5 is easily one of the most hyped and anticipated releases of the year, alongside Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. On top of that, in the past couple of months alone, we’ve been privy to boatload of information on the PlayStation 5, including the possibility of the company limiting pre-orders to just one person, it might have five-year span instead of seven, and even the reveal of the game box art. As we progress to the end of the Summer, it’s possible that Sony will unveil more PlayStation 5 details before then, but until then, we’ve got this cool State of Play to look forward to.
The State of Play will commence this Thursday, August 6, 1:00 pm PST / 4:00 pm EST. You can watch it on their official YouTube and Twitch channels.
