The Warfarer is described as “an Arisen exclusive vocation that can use weapons and skills of every vocation.” Which sounds just amazing. In the trailer even we see a Sorcerer, decked out in traditionally Sorcerer gear complete with witch hat, pull out a greatsword and begin emulating a Warrior. This lines up with some of the earlier trailers too, where magic users could wear heavy armor. This class has a lot of possibilities for playstyles in Dragon’s Dogma, a game that is focused heavily around the vocation you choose.
With access to abilities in every vocation this class offers a flexibility many high skill Dragon’s Dogma players will likely chomp at the bit to get a hold of. But the adaptability of the Warfarer likely isn’t free, and will come at a cost.
The Warfarer is a new Vocation exclusive to the Arisen that can use every weapon and learn different skills from each Vocation. By using diverse weapons, the Warfarer can respond to any situation and create combos that cross Vocational boundaries. The Warfarer’s lower base stats require them to utilize the situational strengths of different weapon types to be on par with other Vocations with specialized strengths.
So the tradeoff for access to every vocation is a lower stat spread, which means that your traditional Warrior or Sorcerer is still going to hit much harder than a Warfarer could ever hope to, but having the situational awareness to swap to a skillset that is appropriate for the encounter is a reward on its own.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of the most hyped future releases this year, coming to Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam on March 22nd of this year. Directed by action game icon of Devil May Cry fame Hideaki Itsuno, this sequel will be sure to be a fantastic adventure.
