Sony’s PS5 Future Of Gaming Event Postponed

Today, many video game developers and publishers have taken to social media in support of Black Lives Matter. Some upcoming events such as EA’s Madden 21 reveal have also been postponed. Last week, Sony announced that a PlayStation 5 event was happening later this week, right after the latest State of Play focused on The Last of Us Part II. Today, like EA, Sony announced that the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for Thursday, June 4 has been postponed.

The PS5 Future of Gaming Event is set to focus on revealing what games will be available to play once the system launches. More updates and events are planned after this event to reveal more about PlayStation 5 during the rest of the year leading up to its Holiday 2020 release. In contrast, Microsoft has revealed a lot of information about its next-gen system, Xbox Series X. Recently, they revealed the first gameplay running on the system and are set to showcase and reveal more details about some of what Xbox Game Studios is working on including Halo Infinite which is set to launch with the new system. Like PlayStation plans to do, Microsoft has shared plans to detail more about what’s coming with Xbox Series X throughout the year leading up to its launch with an initiative called Xbox 20/20.

Like Sony and PlayStation, Microsoft has shown support for Black Lives Matter. Other video game companies have shared their support for change as well including Naughty Dog, Bethesda, Insomniac Games, EA Sports, Riot Games, and more.
