Sony To Shut Down Playstation MVP

Always wanted to be a PlayStation MVP? Well sadly as of April 18, 2016 Sony confirmed to GameSpot that they will shut down their PlayStation MVP program. Although this is the end for this program, Sony still wants to have ways to “empower the vibrant PlayStation community across our on-console and digital ecosystem.” What kind of program or service will come out in the future is unknown as of now. With the shutdown of MVP though, the program’s support services will not be affected. But what exactly was this program’s services? The official description of the program is as follows:

“As a member of the PlayStation MVP, you’ll help host exclusive game events and tournaments, create content such as walk-throughs and help articles for fellow PlayStation gamers on the PlayStation Forums, and share your expert opinions on PlayStation products through exclusive panels and discussion sessions with the PlayStation Community Management team.”

PlayStation has expressed their thanks and gratitude to everyone that has become an MVP and that “[they] will continue to explore new ways to empower the vibrant PlayStation community.” Sony has not spoken on what these new ways could be, but maybe these would be more easily accessible to people of the general public rather than being exclusively for more official people. Sony has always come out with great programs and services for their users so can only wait to see what they have to come in the future.

Sony’s motto now is “Greatness Awaits” so we can only assume that something great is going to come soon. Especially with PlayStation 4.5 and PlayStation VR coming out sometime soon new services can be expected to come to help support these new users.
