For those looking to get themselves the PlayStation 5 that can play physical games, Sony has special treat for you. The company has unveiled the official PlayStation 5 box art design, and what better title to show it off with then the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The looks itself is rather familiar, bearing a striking resemblance to its predecessor, the PlayStation 4 box art design. Despite the similarity, there are a couple of small nuances that make it stand apart.
The most notable difference that you’ll notice is the white stripe at the top with the signature PlayStation abbreviation on the top left, in this case the PlayStation 5 stylized as PS5. The white aesthetic continues on the spine of the box, and just like the PlayStation 4, it’s only at the top where it cuts off approximately a quarter of the way down. This allows the remainder of the spine to showcase the game’s title and logo, and whatever else they can fit near the end. The subtle yet obvious change is more than likely to coincide with the PlayStation 5 console itself, which bears the rather large white shell-like cover over the sleek black interior.
As we progress through the rest of 2020, we expect to see more companies and studios revealing their own box art for the incoming system. Since the PlayStation 5 is still targeting a 2020 holiday release time frame, it’s more than likely that those brand new art designs will be shown fairly soon, or so we hope. If you aren’t specifically keen on physical games or released, then there’s always the disc-less PlayStation 5 Digital Edition which does not include any blu ray drive.
The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to launch during the 2020 holiday season.
