Sony Offers a Great Deal for PS Plus

Many European PlayStation owners are feeling bitter after Sony announced a couple weeks ago that PlayStation Plus would be getting a price hike. In the face of this backlash, it seems Sony has decided to extend a peace offering to gamers. According to an article from GameSpot, Sony has recently announced that players can get 15 months of PS Plus when they purchase a 12 month membership. That means, for the price of 40 pounds, players can get three extra months for free.

This appears to be Sony’s way of apologizing to European gamers, who were not too happy to hear about the price hike for PlayStation Plus coming August 31st. In the UK, the annual price will rise 25 percent, from 40 pounds to 50. The quarterly price will go from 15 pounds to 20, and monthly will go from 6 to 7. The annual price for the rest of Europe goes from 50 euros to 60.

Sony has said that the reason for the price increase is due to “various market conditions” and that it will “enable[e] us to continue providing exceptional value to our members.” Sony also assured gamers that “there is nothing to announce” about a possible price increase in the US. Good thing too, since PlayStation Plus prices already went up for North America last year, with the current annual price in the US being $60 and $25 for three months.

The offer that Sony is currently offering allows players to buy a 15 month membership for 40 pounds, which will cost 70 starting August 31st. This offer is available to all PlayStation Plus members in Europe and will be available until August 29th, 10 am.
