The long in development PlayStation 4 exclusive WiLD, from the creator of Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil Michel Ancel, may be resurfacing soon after years of silence. First reported by Gematsu, Sony has filed a new trademark in the United States for the game.
WiLD is described as an open world survival adventure game set in prehistoric times. Players have the ability to possess wide variety of animals from rabbits to bears. The game was first announced at Gamescom 2014 after Ancel formed the independent studio Wild Sheep Studio earlier that year. The game would then reappear the following year with a gameplay trailer during Sony’s Paris Games Week presentation. Since then, however, the game has been radio silent aside from an Instagram post from an excited Ancel in January 2017. Since the game has gone silent, Ancel, who is still employed by Ubisoft, is working at Ubisoft Montpelier on Beyond Good & Evil 2 which was announced at E3 in 2017.
It will be interesting to see if and when the game will step back into the limelight. Sony has been mostly silent on their game release schedule since E3 last year. The company skipped hosting PlayStation Experience last year, and announced that they’d be forgoing E3 this year due to not having enough to show. However, the company announced earlier today that they will be hosting State of Play live stream to showcase a plethora of upcoming games for PlayStation 4 on March 25, so fans could finally see the game again during the event.
