Sony Announces Weekly “The Last of Us” Podcast

As told on the official PlayStation blog, Naughty Dog and Sony have developed their own official The Last of Us podcast. The show is set to have total of eight episodes and spend the first handful of those episodes focused on the first The Last of Us (that was released in 2013). From July 7th onwards, the focus of the podcast will then shift towards discussing the themes and making of The Last of Us Part II (avoiding the spoilers of course).  As told in the official description on iTunes,

Featuring writer and creative director Neil Druckmann and stars Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, as well as other talents and visionaries who brough the game to life, The Official The Last of Us Podcast will take listeners through the groundbreaking jouney of Part I and the making of the highly anticipated Part II

ESRB Rating: Mature 17+ with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Sexual Content Strong Language, Use of Drugs

The hour-long podcasts are set to start with the first The Last of Us and be hosted by Christian Spicer. Throughout the series (which releases new episodes every Tuesday) he is joined by guests such as Troy Baker (the voice of Joel), Ashley Johnson (the voice of Ellie), and Neil Druckmann (the vice president of Naughty Dog). As time goes on he is expected to have even more guests on the show such as Laura Bailey, Jeffrey Pierce, and composer Gustavo Santaolalla. The first episode is available now and can be found on iTunes and Spotify (with soon to be release dates on Google Podcasts, Overcast, Castbox, Pocket Casts, and RadioPublic).

At the same time as avoiding spoilers, director Neil Druckmann revealed that the ending of The Last of Us Part II had not been revealed since the big scandal involving major spoilers leaked. “There’s all these theories about what the ending is but the ending is not out there. You actually don’t know how it all comes together.” The Last of Us Part II will be released on PlayStation 4 on June 19th, 2020.
