Sony Announces Spotify Partnership and PlayStation Plus February Lineup

Sony PlayStation announced a new partnership this past Wednesday with popular music streaming service Spotify. The new service will be available this spring on the PlayStation Network for 41 countries.

Spotify will allow thousands of gamers to stream their favorite music during game play at any time and with over 30 million songs available it won’t be hard to find your favorite tunes. Subscribing is easy and only requires a simple link of accounts to the app for PSN users to access the music service. Initially Spotify will only be available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles, along with some Xperia devices.

Unfortunately Music Unlimited services will be suspended prior to Spotify taking over in all 19 countries it was once available to. From February 28th to March 29th, all Music Unlimited active subscribers will have up to 30 days free access.

Along with the exciting news this week, Sony also announced February’s lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus members. PlayStation 4 games include Transistor, Apotheon, and Rogue Legacy; which is also available for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. Yakuza 4 and Thief are free for PlayStation 3 players. And last but not least Kick & Fennick are playable next month for PlayStation Vita.

The beginning of the New Year looks like a good one for PlayStation users. Though most of us were still reeling from the crippling holiday cyber attacks, the added incentives have certainly made a better impression for PlayStation members this month.
