Sony Announces Playstation Plus January Lineup!

Sony is paying tribute to classic and popular games in the following month, January 2016, with its Playstation Plus–offering free games for the New Year. The mega entertainment company is also upping the ante in graphics and gameplay in order to bring a few classic titles up to speed with the modern platforms they are expected to run on. These fan favorite games will be available for a plethora of Sony platforms, including Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and the PS Vita.

The full list of games made available during the Playstation Plus event are below:

  • Dragon Age: Origins, PS3
  • Grim Fandango Remastered, PS4, PS Vita
  • Hardware: Rivals, PS4
  • Legends of War Patton, PS Vita
  • Medal of Honor Warfighter, PS3
  • Nihilumbra, PS Vita

This marks Hardware: Rivals first time appearing in the Playstation Plus lineup. For those unfamiliar with this upcoming rendition, Hardware: Rivals is an “arcade-style, vehicle combat game…inspired by the PS2 classic Hardware: Online Arena” in which you take your friends on head-to-head in arena style combat, events, and challenges, with cars or even a tank.

Perhaps most exciting is the announcement that an updated version of Double Fine Production’s Grim Fandango Remastered. Double Fine, a long time fan favorite, indie game developer famous for other titles such as Psychonauts, Broken Age, and Costume Quest, has seen its fair amount of press in the past. However, they recently have come into the spotlight with the announcement of possible Psychonauts 2, and have since reached 93% on their Fig campaign and accumulated over 18,000 backers. GF: Remastered boasts the same grim and riveting noir point-and-click adventure game, but with heavily revamped graphics.

If you haven’t played the Dragon Age series yet, now is your chance to download where it all began with Dragon Age: Origins, for free to your PS3 (if you still have one with enough free space).

This awesome lineup of free games will be made available for download on the very first Tuesday in January 2016 for Playstation Plus members.
