Sony has officially given the date and time for their E3 2018 press conference. Their presentation will take place on June 11 at 6 PM PT/ 9 PM ET. However, there has been news stating that this year’s conference will be a little different from what we are used to seeing from the publisher. During a PlayStation Blogcast, chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden stated that their press conference this year will focus on a few upcoming titles for the PlayStation 4.
Layden said that the show will feature “exclusive looks and deep dives on four” upcoming titles: Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part II. Going into detail about what we will be specifically seeing from these titles, Layden stated that in regards Death Stranding, Sony has a “complete new report for everybody about what is happening around that title.” For Spider-Man he simply stated that there will be a “new drop”. He added that there will be a “deep dive” for Ghost of Tsuchima. And for The Last of Us Part II, “A full new scope and treatment to show progress on the game and give people a better understanding of where we’re going with Part 2.”
Other than some extensive looks on these few titles, there will be other announcements from a few third party publishers as well as some indie games being showcased. Some fans may have speculated announcements dealing with new hardware from Sony, but those rumors have finally been put to rest. When Layden was asked about the possibility of new hardware announcements during the presentation, he simply replied “There will be no new hardware announcements at E3 from PlayStation.” With Sony being the last company to confirm their time slot and plans for the big convention, there is only about a month to wait before we get to see what these developers have been hard at work on.
