Today, French indie developer Tactical Adventures has officially launched the Kickstarter for Solasta: Crown of the Magister, a new turn-based tactical RPG striving to bring the most authentic Tabletop Gaming experience to a CRPG. Launching with the Kickstarter is a free, pre-alpha demo available for anyone to download on Steam to try it before they decide to back the Kickstarter.
On the Kickstarter page, Tactical Adventures says: “We love Tabletop RPGs. And if you’re here, chances are you too! From Character Creation, to rolling the dice, to arguing with your peers about the fact that their idea is dumb and they should go with your proposal… This is what we want Solasta: Crown of the Magister to be – a PC representation of the Tabletop experience. Most of us have been playing and DM’ing for decades, and we pour that love and knowledge into our game.”
There are also several other elements that make Solasta: Crown of the Magister different from other CRPGs. starting with the characters and character creation, players won’t be creating just one character, you will be playing a party of four heroes instead of playing one character with companions. There are four races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Halfling, and four classes: Fighters, Rogue, Cleric, and Wizard. More are planned depending on the result of the Kickstarter.
Light plays a very important role in Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Light will impact the visuals as well as the gameplay. Torches and Spells will allow you to watch for ambushes and hidden traps, and some monsters may even be hypersensitive to light. Light can also give yourself away to enemies if you’re not careful.
Another thing that makes Solasta: Crown of the Magister unique is space as both combat and exploration is done in three dimensions. You can climb, jump, or fly around obstacles; evade or surprise foes from above or below. The combat uses a turn-based, grid-based fighting system.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister‘s Kickstarter lasts for 30 days starting today September 3 to October 4, 2019.
