Today, gamers got their first look at the new game, Sol Shogunate. Developed by Chaos Manufacturing, the offers players a unique setting by blending elements of classic sci-fi with samurai. The two key features of the game also seem to inform the story, focused on a ronin in search of revenge. While information is still relatively limited on the game, Chaos Manufacturing did offer a trailer to coincide with the announcement, offering story set-up and gameplay footage.

According to the Steam store pageplayers will traverse the story of Sol Shogunate as Yuzuki, who has been made an outlaw following the death of her family. Her goal throughout the game will be to enact vengeance on the rival clan that killed them. The classic samurai set-up is further complicated by the setting, the future moon with architecture inspired by feudal Japan. In the sci-fi world of Sol Shogunate, the moon has been transformed into a technological wonder that houses the plans of the corrupt shogunate. The trailer further emphasizes the futuristic setting, showing off massive cities with flying transports and aggressive robots.

To the excitement of many fans, the trailer also included moments of gameplay. The quick glimpses offer both tense sword combat and small platforming sections. Further information reveals that Yuzuki will have the ability to change her weapon and equipment between various high-tech options. It is even said that players will be able to choose between fighting up close or at a distance. The most fleshed-out upgrades revealed are the elemental and genetic modifications players will be able to make to their weapons and selves to augment their skills. Finally, the game teases in-depth boss fights as an opportunity for players to test their abilities.

SOL Shogunate does not currently have a release date, nor has there been much evidence to allow people to make a guess. The game was announced for PC and consoles, with both Steam and PlayStation having confirmed the game will be playable on their platforms.
