Singapore based publisher Soft Source Publishing and developer Digital Happiness, an Indonesia based game company, have announced the release of their third person supernatural horror title DreadOut: Remastered Collection as well a new reveal trailer; Gematsu shares The collection contains the original DreadOut, released May 15 2014 only for the PC and an all new standalone entry DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark. The Remastered Collection will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch digitally later this month on January 16.
The setting of DreadOut: Remastered Collection is an old abandoned town in Indonesia. You will assume the role of Linda, a high school student who uses her smartphone and SLR camera to battle the paranormal activity.
Found on Gematsu, Soft Source Publishing director Sameer Pandit shares in a press release the team’s reasoning behind creating the DreadOut: Remastered Collection “Having worked on bringing DreadOut 2 to consoles, the team at Soft Source Publishing were enthralled by the idea when Pak Rachmad CEO of Digital Happiness threw out the idea of bringing back DreadOut and DreadOut: Keepers of the Dark to consoles, it’s an immediate thought that we want to be a part of this new project. DreadOut is an iconic IP in Asia and has been spreading its wings in the rest of the world with the release of DreadOut2 on consoles”
DreadOut includes three story chapters. DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark features 13 enemies designed by backers of the game and 8 locales; two new locations have been added to the original DreadOut.
DreadOut features a strong Asian Indonesian setting and given its level of quality it’s easy to see why this passion project has grown in popularity overseas. Hopefully the game can catch its break in success in the west as it has in the east appealing to those seeking new survival horror experiences.
