Publisher Neonhive and developer byteparrot have released a console announcement confirming the launch date of their arcade snowboard combat racer Slopecrashers. Gematsu reports that the title is set for launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on August 7. The title originally launched on PC in December 2024.

Slopecrashers is set on an overarching, globe-trotting tour consisting of snowboarding. Players will assume the role from a cast of customizable animal characters with unique speed, handling, and acceleration. Players will aim to win races, pull tricks to fill their meter, use offensive and defensive items all to become the world champion.

Gamer Social Club interviewed Slopecrashers developer Johannes Lugstein and asked about the inspiration behind the title’s items, Lugstein answered “So my favorite games that have combat items have been Snowboard Kids and Mario Kart, so I took a lot of inspiration from those, some on purpose, some accidental. For example, I thought when playing balloon battle in Mario Kart, if that could be turned into an item. So I did that, and then when I tested it I basically noticed this was how the parachute in Snowboard Kids worked. The default projectiles I kinda wanted to not be some cartoony explosion or anything, but I somewhat wanted to keep the party vibes, so those became fireworks – like yeah you just wiped out but look at the pretty fireworks.”

Slopecrashers features 38 boards and25 gliders and modes including ‘Races’, ‘Battle Races’, ‘Stuntshow’, and ‘Slalom’. Couch cooperative play is included and competitive. ‘Campaign’ and ‘Arcade Mode’ feature event modifiers. Online play is included with up to eight players.

Developer byteparrot may intend to bring Slopecrashers to consoles to expand its audience and deliver its nostalgic, family-friendly style in an accessible format. Well know how the title performs shortly, next month.
