Smurfs Kart Announced To Arrive For PlayStation, Xbox, PC, August 22nd

Publisher Microids and developer Eden Games has announced today that Smurfs Kart will be launching on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam on August 22nd. Smurfs Kart originally launched exclusively on Nintendo Switch November 15th, 2022.

Smurfs Kart currently includes 12 playable Smurfs such as Smurfette, Papa Smurf, Clumsy Smurf and more iconic Smurf characters. As well each Smurf gets their own voice acting making them fun and unique to their personality.  There are also 12 playable tracks, spanning from the Smurf’s village, the forest, the swamp, and series antagonist Gargamel’s house to race through. Every track offers bonus items to pick up, boost pads, ramps, shortcuts, destructibles and more surprises. Each track also offers players a timed challenge to rank up in global leaderboards for the best time.

Each Smurf has their own kart styled to their personality, along with a special item to take advantage over other racers. Players can play solo or with family or friends, with up to four players in local split-screen co-op.

There’s also a Sticker Album for players to go for personal achievements such as winning specific races, time challenges, pulling off tricks and more, giving players a longer investment in the game into replaying numerous tracks.

It’s unclear currently if the launch later this summer will include any major update to the game bringing more content. The release on other platforms will increase notoriety of the game that’s been exclusive to the Switch for nearly a year.

Smurfs Kart largely follows the same formula of other kart racers like Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and many others, without straying too far from mixing up the kart racing genre.  It currently costs $40 on Switch, unclear if it’ll remain the same price on the other platforms it’ll launch on.

Currently Metacritic rates Smurfs Kart at 66. Nintendo Life first reviewed Smurfs Kart when it launched last year in November, scoring it a 7/10, praising it for the racer personalities but were disappointed at the lack of tracks.
