On February 6th 2018, it was announced by Solar Sail Games that the spooky RPG was in the works to being released some time in 2018. Now, the creators have given fans a possible release date of May 31 this year, as presented on Steam.
Smoke and Sacrifice is just as dark as its style may portray. Sachi is a villager where her home thrives off of the godly Sun Tree. However, the tree is unable to be kept ablaze by its own will. Sachi makes the tragic choice of sacrificing her own son to maintain the life force of the Sun Tree, but then she discovers that her son’s sacrifice sheds light on the darker elements of her world. Sachi goes off to unveil the truth behind offering her child to the Sun Tree and faces off against the evil ridden world.
“Sachi doesn’t just have to worry about the game’s antagonists – the entire game world poses a threat.” We watch Sachi courageously venture underground to learn the truth of what happened to her son. This game undoubtedly harbors its own dark irony; a mother who sacrifices her child now searches for them. But its story line is indeed capturing as it is disturbing. The painted art style is a genius element to the adventure game; it eloquently depicts the plot line similar to a story book. Fans look forward to playing as Sachi in the story as they have much hope for providing light to the game’s dark plot line.
Smoke and Sacrifice was created by an independent studio named Solar Sail Games, which is located in East London. This studio strives “to make original video games that have depth and resonance.” With Sachi’s heartbreaking decision paired with an unseen callous truth, Smoke and Sacrifice is successful in providing incredible depth. The game is promised to be available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
