As the spring of 2026 settles in, the new games of the year start to take center stage. Announced earlier this year, SlashZero has demonstrated a lot of potential to many gamers within its first announcement and trailer. Now the game has released a small gameplay trailer to show off the style of combat players can expect from the full release. Developed by Streetlamp Studio and published by Skystone Games, the game advertises itself as an action platformer with roguelike elements.
The trailer focuses on a boss fight against the Contaminated Test Subject. The game uses 3D graphics in a 2D space, leaning into an anime-inspired art style to set itself apart from competition visually. The boss switches between targeted attacks on the player and massive attacks that cover a wide area of effect, with each strike being telegraphed to reward learning the boss’s patterns. The player character strikes back with a variety of attacks, mixing in ranged damage with special fire-based attacks.
More information about the game can be found on the Steam store page. Players have joined a group called the Timehackers in an attempt to stop HIEROS, the Lord of the Void. One of the gameplay features emphasized there are the powerful aerial strings that players can unleash by utilizing combos correctly. These will vary based on the Timehacker that they are currently playing. There will also be a number of customization options available through the use of the Authority Keys, capable of changing the way that players attack or their special moves.
SlashZero is still a fairly fresh announcement, with the release date still unknown. The information available has interested some players, however. Some gamers will event have the chance to play through the current state of the title due to the playtest starting today. As more information drops, fans of the genre will be able to tell if this game is right for them when it releases on PC.
