After massive layoffs in late September, TellTale began to look for partners to finish their ongoing series The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Late last week at New York Comic Con, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman told fans, “Stay tuned. Everyone involved is trying to make sure Clementine’s story is told.” Fans wouldn’t have to wait long. During The Walking Dead panel Saturday night, Kirkman announced his company Skybound Entertainment through Skybound Games has worked with TellTale to come in to finish the remainder of Season 4 of the game. “We can’t lose Andrew Lincoln and Clementine in the same year,” Kirkman proclaimed to fans.
Skybound Games would later confirm the news on Twitter in a tweet as well as saying more details would be “coming soon.”
We’re SO happy to announce that we’ve reached a deal with @telltalegames that will allow Skybound to continue #TheWalkingDead: The Final Season! Let’s wrap up Clem’s story right! More details to come soon. pic.twitter.com/ShyREw65iq

Along with this, Skybound released a statement stating it has “taken ownership” of the series and plans to work with the original team from TellTale. Skybound continues with:
We’re currently ironing out some of the details as this is a pretty major deal, so we’ll have more info on the who/what/where/when/how very soon as those details are finalized. We appreciate your patience during this process. Thank you to the fans for being so supportive of this series and vocal about wanting to see Clementine’s story continue!
Skybound Entertainment has been the main developers of The Walking Dead comics since Kirkman founded the company in 2010. In April of this year, Skybound Games was formed to develop Skybound IP in the realm of video games. This deal to finish the TellTale game will be their biggest foray into game development. It appears that Clementine’s final endeavor will be in good hands after the game’s future was left in limbo with the debacle at TellTale. We will continue to inform you about Episodes 3 and 4 as more information is released.
