Skull Girls Coming to iOS and Android

2D Fighting game, Skull Girls is getting a mobile release later this year. Skulls Girls’ cross over into the world of mobile going will build upon the original game. The new mobile version of the game will include turn based combat/RPG elements as well as collectible deck building elements. The idea behind this collectible element being added to the game seems to be to add a layer of strategy and variation to how the player would traditionally play the game. These additions also keep the game fresh, for the people who have been playing the game since its original 2012 release. These new elements could also attract new fans to series who may not have other wised been interested in what the fighting game has had to offer before now. Skull Girls on mobile promises to be a simplified and mobile friendly version of the original, making it easier for the casual gamer to enjoy. A trailer for this mobile version of Skull Girls can be seen below.

The combat in the game will introduce the turn based fighting and collectible elements into the game via a “Fight Assist” mechanic. This includes different cool down times, effects, and amounts of damage for each character card. The player can pair up their favorite fighters, some of which will be unique to the mobile version, to design their own unique combat style. As the player plays through this new version of the game they will also be able to discover new moves to add to their arsenal. The player can then use these moves to create their own combos, making their play style their very own. This mobile version of Skull Girls will also include new story lines in the world of Skull Girls, the first of which will be a prequel to the story line from the console version of the game.

The game is being developed by Hidden Variable Studios who have a history of developing mobile games. Some of the other titles they have developed include Tic Tactics and Threes, both of which have been successful mobile games.

A closed beta version of the game is currently open for application, the closed beta seems to be taking priority in accepting those who backed the original Indiegogo campaign, as it is one of the few questions asked in the beta application. The closed beta application can be found here.
