Six New Pokémon Revealed For Pokémon Sun And Moon

With everyone in the world enamored with Pokémon GO, it’s easy to forget that Nintendo has a major entry in the series coming out this November, and The Pokémon Company is busy drumming up some hype with the latest trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon. This trailer introduces us to five new critters that we can expect to see on our journeys.

You know the drill, let’s go though one by one and learn about the newest editions to the Pokémon world. As always all info comes from the infinitely helpful Pokémon website.

Wimpod is a Bug/Water-type with the new ability Wimp out, with this ability the Turn Tail Pokémon will flee or swap out of the battle if its HP drops below half. Like it’s name suggests Wimpod is a coward, but it’s also oddly curious. Wimpod will occasionally approach humans who are standing still to investigate. However if the human moves at all, it will run. When a it feels threatened, it will spit up a poisonous liquid what a stench that warns its kind of danger.

Bounsweet is an unfortunate Pokémon, although it’s not as sad as other Pokémon on this list (foreshadowing!). Known as the Fruit Pokémon, Bounsweet is a Grass-type whose body gives off a pleasingly sweet scent. Residents of the Alola region love this Pokémon as well as the native fauna who have the habit of swallowing it whole. Its bouncy movement doesn’t convey the fact it’s running away, so no one helps it.

Comfey, a Fairy-type, could be the latest Chansey of the Pokémon world. You know how in the first game and in the anime whenever anyone went into a Pokémon Center Nurse Joy was accompanied by a Chansey? Comfey would fill that role. This is due to the flowers it collects. Comfey will pick flowers and create a lei out of them and use an oil from its body to change the flowers so they emit a pleasing scent. The scent can calm both itself and allies and it uses this ability to assist “people and Pokémon at Pokémon Centers and Hospitals”. Comfey has the new ability Triage which gives its healing moves priority in battle.

Mudsdale is a Ground-type and it’s quite the work horse. While not the fastest, it has a respectable speed and incredible stamina, which is also the name of its new ability. With Stamina, each hit raises it’s defense. Mudsdale has power kicks as well, with a single hit able to reduce a car to scrap.

Mimikyu was first teased last week when a Serebii translated an issue of CoroCoro since then the internet has fallen in love with this little imposter, as this Kotaku article proves. Mimikyu isn’t your normal Pokémon trying to leech off of Pikachu’s popularity, well, I mean, it is, just listen. Mimikyu’s true form is said to cause a mysterious illness, it also hates sunlight so it covers itself. Mimikyu is a very lonely Pokémon who just wants to be loved, so it created its own Pikachu costume from old merchandise. Mimikyu is the first Fairy/Ghost-type with the new ability Disguise which allows it to avoid one hit, before the disguise fails.

Bewear may look cute but it is a dangerous Pokémon. Signs litter Alola warning trainers of Bewear, it’s so strong that it can snap trees in two effortlessly. Trainers must teach Bewear to hold back its strength so its bear hugs don’t do real damage. Some Bewear have picked up some martial arts skills from watching black belts train. Bewear is a Normal/Fighting-type with the new ability Fluffy. Bewear receives half damage from direct hits but takes double damage from Fire-type moves.

Salandit wasn’t announced in this trailer, but it did get its own which you can watch below. Salandit is a Fire/Poison-type with the new ability Corrosion which allows it to inflict poison on Steel and Poison-type Pokémon. Salandit may not be the strongest Pokémon, but it makes up for it with its cunning. It can emit a poison from its tail, the poison’s sweet lures people and Pokémon alike making them dizzy. Female Salandit can also release “pheromones that attract all species” and inhaling them brainwashes the victim forcing them to do Salandit’s bidding.

The end of the latest trailer said that players could host their own competitions over Global Link. Along with that, the trailer announced Hyper Training. According to Serebii, after a Pokémon reaches level 100 Hyper Training allows trainers to increase stats using bottle caps.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be out on November 18th for 3DS, New 3DS, and 2DS.
