Six Games Leaving Xbox Game Pass Library in May

Six games will be leaving the Xbox Game Pass library on May 15th, as nine new titles release on the online subscription service throughout the first half of May.

Of the six leaving this month, two are Xbox One games while the other four are Xbox 360 games, designed to be backwards-compatible with the Xbox One. Of the games being removed, the Xbox One titles are the Mega Man Legacy Collection and MotoGP 17 and the Xbox 360 titles include Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Ms. Splosion Man, and Comic Jumper.

For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, though the games will not be deleted from their hard drives, the games will become unplayable on the day of their removal unless subscribers purchase them, according to Xbox Game Pass’ FAQ page. Should subscribers choose to purchase the titles from the library, they can do so at a discounted rate at 20 percent or more.

Xbox Game Pass is an online gaming subscription service—structured similarly to Netflix—in which subscribers can access any and all games within the Xbox Game Pass library as they choose. Just like Netflix, however, as new games are added, old games are removed, but can usually be purchased for permanent ownership for a discounted price. An Xbox Game Pass subscription costs $10 (USD) a month.

This service is separate from Xbox Live Gold, which is required for online multiplayer gameplay, and offers additional benefits, such as free games every month and discounts on some digital titles. Xbox Live Gold subscriptions can be purchased in one-month ($9.99), three-month ($24.99), and six-month ($39.99) increments. However, the two services have recently been offered as a package deal, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, for the price of $14.99 a month.

Microsoft recently offered another deal for players to try out the Xbox Game Pass services for a trial period of three months, for just $1, which just ended today, May 13th. Anyone who utilized this deal will now automatically be charged the full month price unless they cancel their subscription.
