Polish Indie game developer 7LEVELS has released a brand new announcement trailer confirming the release of their Castle of Heart Remake. The title of the project is Castle of Heart: Retold, and 7LEVELS promises a “massively upgraded and expanded version” of their dark fantasy side-scrolling platformer. Gematsu reports the title is set for launch this summer on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The original Castle of Heart was released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on March 23, 2018.

Castle of Heart: Retold is set within four distinct Slavic- inspired landscapes, including haunted forest and cursed villages. Players will assume the role of Svaran, a Slavic Warrior afflicted by a curse that is turning his body to stone. Your goal is to maintain a “Killer Streak” to prevent the curse, confront an evil sorcerer to rescue the priestess Mira and liberate the land.

7LEVELS shares in the press release on Gematsu “Experience the definitive version of Castle of Heart, boasting a legendary number of improvements.” In Castle of Heart: Retold you will battle various mythological creatures including Chorts, Ghouls, and Vodniks with combat consisting of melee and ranged weapons. Players will have access to torches, hatchets, javelins, and crossbows. Castle of Heart: Retold features new animations, updated character models, improvements to lighting, remixed music and environments. Developer 7LEVELS promises “rebalanced combat and platforming”, an improved user interface and controls. Each line of dialogue and cutscene from the original Castle of Heart has been reworked and features new unlockable endings in collecting the Crystals of Mokosh.

7LEVELS have aimed to reignite their Castle of Heart project with this substantial upgrade. By revamping their efforts in visuals, combat, music and the narrative they may be able to push the source material to greater heights.
