Indivisible, Lab Zero’s new Valkyrie Profile-inspired action-RPG hybrid, dances above the fundraising fire this week as its Indiegogo campaign draws to a close on November 14. With only six days to go, and 50% of its $1.5m US to go, Lab Zero is pulling out all the stops to reach the goal it needs. The indie studio’s latest efforts include a free prototype demo for PS4 (in lieu of the PC, Linux, and Mac demos) and according to Polygon, the announcement of guest characters from other indie titles as playable Incarnations, or party members, to join Ajna in her quest.
Among these newcomers are Shovel Knight from Shovel Knight, Juan from Guacamelee, Lea from Curses n’ Chaos, Zackasaurus from Super Time Force Ultra, Calibretto from the comic series Battle Chasers, and The Drifter from the upcoming indie ARPG Hyper Light Drifter. It’s as if the characters from these games were all traveling across time and space to support Ajna and her crew in one final push for victory, and it’s quite heartwarming to see the indie scene band together like this.
In addition to the above characters, the swordsgirl Annie from Lab Zero’s fighting game Skullgirls will be joining Indivisible as an NPC. Two other in-universe Incarnations, Antoine the fencer and Baozhai the pirate, also recently joined the cast.
Indivisible follows the story of Ajna, a tomboyish young girl whose home village has been destroyed by roving warlords. She sets out across lush jungles, towering mountains, and ancient ruins – replete with architecture, friends, and foes that draw heavily from Southeast Asian mythology – to confront the warlords and discover more about her magical powers. Along the way, she will build a retinue of friends, called Incarnations, who will assist her in battle.
Indivisible would be set to release with a fully-playable story mode in 2017, in addition to side quests and potential future content, if it were to meet its $1.5m US funding goal. For now, you can take romp through Ajna’s vibrant world by downloading the prototype demo here. Or if you’re feeling especially generous, you can donate to the project’s Indiegogo here.
