Kill the Shadow, an indie story driven game by developers Shadowlight and Publishers Phoenix Game dropped earlier this morning.
To celebrate the release of the game, a Kill the Shadow Out Now! Limited Launch Discount Ongoing trailer dropped as well. The Launch trailer starts with blue eyed girl looking through a doorway, stating that she’s “sick of this place” as a sprawling oceanside town with moving npcs fills the screen. The trailer jumps into game mechanics showing the main character “Officer A Guang” according to the trailer’s description, he’s also called “Lucas” in the game’s official Steam page, talking to a “mysterious Shadow” figure that manifests in real life. It also highlights the different dialogue lines and “Chapters” to choose from in the game, as there are multiple pathways that unfold based on the players’ choices.
From there, the game teases city wide “cutscenes,” discussions with npc’s, bloody footsteps hinting at some kind of conspiracy, and a wider storyline involving a woman. With mini puzzles, a “Deduction” board and visual “Clues” that players can properly inspect, A Guang seems to be racing against time, trying to “SAVE THEM.” The game’s Steam About page adds more information to the Officer’s motives as he’s trying to “Piece together the truth behind the city’s fracture ten years ago.” Kill the Shadow is currently available on Steam with a “Limited Launch Discount” of “10%.” Apart from the trailer, the developers also left a heartfelt release message on the game’s Steam news page, that details some of the developers’ hardships and notifies fans of “new stuff” added for the game release. Ending the message with:
In the end, we stumbled our way to this final step of the launch. As the saying goes, the journey is more important than the destination.
