Select Bethesda Titles Get FPS Boost on Xbox Series X|S

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass just got a whole lot bigger thanks to the major influx of new games from the Bethesda acquisition. 20 of those titles are already available on the special subscription service, including for those who play it on the PC platform. However, for those playing on the Xbox Series X/Series S, the deal is about to become whole lot sweeter. Microsoft has announced that five of those titles will now have the ability to use the new FPS Boost feature, which was revealed last month as a special benefit for games in the Xbox One backwards compatible library.

All five titles to get the new boost are pretty big players from the Bethesda library. They are Dishonored: Definitive Edition, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, Prey, and Fallout 76. In their post, Microsoft stated that players should “expect an increase from 30 fps to nearly 60 fps” once the feature has been enabled. Microsoft actually revealed last week that select Bethesda titles would get the FPS Boost at some point, although at the time they did not mention which titles would be receiving it.

Microsoft also mentioned that those who activate the FPS Boost may see a drop in the overall resolution. This is standard with most console frame boosts as developers tend to offer the players the choice to prioritize either the frames per second or the resolution on their TV/Monitor. It will be interesting to see how far Microsoft will go with this nifty new benefit, especially since it’s compatible with titles on the Xbox Games Pass. All five titles, as well as 15 other Bethesda games, are now available on the Xbox Games Pass.
