SEGA Atlus Lineup For Tokyo Game Show Leaves Mysteries To Be Revealed

This Friday September 21st, 2024, the SEGA Atlus Tokyo Game Show will offer new marketing and updates on upcoming games, and perhaps even some completely new announcements. At least that is the current theory by Youtuber DavidCast JRPGs, who made video featuring KingNarukami45 where they discussed possible announcements that would be taking place, and how many there might be.

Referencing the Tokyo Game Show 2024 webpage, there is suspicion that there will be three new projects being announced during the show. The webpage features a line up of multiple games that will be talked about during the show, including Metaphor: ReFantazio, Sonic Shadow Generations, and Farming Simulator 25. Also part of this lineup was three unnamed slots, whether those will be Atlus titles or SEGA titles remains to be seen.

During the video, a new installment to the Yakuza or Like A Dragon series was proposed as one of the open slots, to showcase the work being done by Ryu Ga Gotoku studios. The Judgment series was also proposed as a possible option. Considering Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth came out in January of this year, another so soon would be a feat, especially if it was to the same size and scope. However, Judgment has only had two games published in the series so far. Possible ports from either series are also possible.

The remaining two slots were Atlus titles, with the first being Persona 5: The Phantom X, the upcoming spin-off mobile game developed by Perfect World Games. It will also be a gacha game, the second in the Megami Tensei series, after Shin Megami Tensei DX2. Phantom X completed its closed beta tests earlier this year, going on to perform an open beta test and release the game in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea. As such any mentions during the upcoming Game Show might have to do with further beta releases, most likely in Japan.

The final slot is probably the most mysterious, although DavidCast JRPGs suspect a Devil Summoner Raidou collection based on updates to the achievement list of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne which occurred earlier this week. While the Raidou collection might not be guaranteed it certainly supersedes some other projects that Atlus isn’t focusing on just yet, for example remakes of Persona 1 and the Persona 2 duology. Perhaps instead of any of these game announcements, fans will instead hear more info about the SEGA revival project.
