Here we go again. If it hasn’t been made clear, Pokémon Go is as much as my enemy as Liberty University is. Niantic, the creator of Pokémon Go, has released its second update of the holidays, and it’s not what Pokémon Go players want, all five of them.
Instead of the Gen 2 Pokémon that dataminers have found in the game’s code, they’re releasing an update that no player wants: special boxes, containing incenses, lure modules, lucky eggs, regular Pokéballs and Great Balls. The boxes are replacing the freebies that came with first update, available from December 25 to December 30, being the Special, Great and Ultra boxes.
Helping players complete the Pokémon Go Pokédex is the increased likelihood of the starter Pokémon and their middle and final evolutions to appear. Lures will now last for 60 minutes as opposed to 30. It’s actually a good update, but not what players want.
As long as Niantic refuses to give the dying app what the fans want them to give them, Pokémon Go will not have the respect I give to Pokémon Sun and Moon and other system games, dating back all the way to 1998 with Red, Blue and Yellow for the Gameboy Color.
