Sea Of Thieves Holding Another Scale Test

Beginning on Friday, March 2 at 2 A.M. PST, developer Rare will be holding another Scale Test for their upcoming title Sea of Thieves, the open world multiplayer pirate game for PC and Xbox One. The test will end on Sunday, March 4 at 2 a.m. The test will be available for anyone who preordered or signed up for the Insider Program.  However,  Rare intends this time on stressing the game for the sake of the test.

“With this added scale we expect – and plan – to see issues, that we can learn from and address. Not only are we looking to hit scale, we will also purposefully be stressing our services by throttling performance at certain times, testing the game in different data centres around the world, and simulating deliberate outages.” So players shouldn’t expect a casual smooth ride for the duration of the test. Those who choose to take part in the test should be prepared to experience a few issues at some point or another.

Even though there is sure to be some rough waters ahead of players, this is a chance for them to get one more early feel for the game before it launches in a few weeks. Just as the previous beta that took place last month, this test will be limited to the Voyages of the Gold Hoarders trading company. Sea of Thieves will release later this month on March 20 for PC and Xbox One, so even players who would rather wait for the full game don’t have too long of a wait before they can set sail themselves.
